Knop Law Charcoal Drawing

It would be important to remove the fear of working with the medium and instead to embrace it’s qualities. An insight into what the medium could do would also help to form independent and personalised images, avoiding any stereotypical images being made. Workshops were designed in three distinct stages:

Mark Making

Tone to Describe Form

Observational Drawing

The quality of the artwork made inspired further development. Laser etched wood was used to represent the individual drawings, brought together as a large format artwork – a true collaboration of the group working with the artist.

The project was selected as a paper for presentation at the International Journal of Art and Design Education conference in Dublin 2017 and was published by the National Society for Education in Art and Design in Spring 2018.
